Since the artwork is copied directly over from the current iLife '09, there's no reason to think they have any more insight about the iLife suite than, at best, guesswork, and quite possibly nothing more than just random stabbing in the dark. Apple has not previously reused artwork from one iLife edition to the next, and it makes little sense to retain the '09 artwork given the supposed changes.

There are already some apps that do this subtly using other techniques.
'Labyrinth LE' is one that I know of right now, but it's just a way to make it look cooler. The gameplay doesn't depend on it. I look forward to seeing others push the limits like this. That one works when you move the iPad...this head-tracking one has the advantage of being able to leave the iPad on a table while you only move your head.
This could lead to some amazing games, like maybe one where you control something on the iPad with your iPhone as the controller and the screen on the iPad 'moves' based on how you move your head. You could literally look 'around' objects in the game while it sits propped up on a table in front of you.
Looks awesome!

I really want iDVD to stick around (just like I'd like DVD studio Pro to get some more lovin') but I wonder if Apple may be making a general interactive export app.
Basically, an application that can not only export to DVD, but also an intractive Quicktime file, or a small self contained mac/iOS app, or (to iWeb (HTML5/CSS3/Javascript)
I don't know, I doubt that would happen but it would still be pretty awesome.
+1 QT 7 Pro (hopefully Quicktime X will get there someday)
That app already exists, it's called Encore and it's from Adobe. Export as flash or DVD or Blu-Ray, etc. And yes, Apple should make a uniform multimedia app that destroys it. It's my only guess as to why they've let all their multimedia languish like DVDSP. Why bother when you're working on a DVDSP killer, right?

I figured they were talking about network traffic as well. Where would they get the road traffic information from users? I'd like to see a quality turn-by-turn navigation feature become a standard offering and improved traffic info would be a nice plus.
For example: After some opt-in, your phone records its GPS locations, finds out what looks like driving based on speed etc., sends the data to Apple, where they use it to find streets that are not in their mapping software, and the most useful thing would be average speed data depending on the time of day. If you are in a traffic jam and want to be helpful, you press a button to send the information right now, not when you are near to some WiFi. So people can be directed on the best routes based on actual average speeds, and they can be sent around traffic jams in real time.
There's no way to distinguish between whether the user is a pedestrian or in a vehicle.
Could be a cyclist flying along roads, or a person jogging, at the same pace as a car stuck in traffic. Has the car stopped because of heavy traffic, or because they can't hold it in any longer!!
There's way to many variables to consider for this to be about them collecting road traffic information.
It's not a trivial problem, but not really _that_ difficult. If it ever goes over 30mph then it's a car, and if it doesn't stop at a stop sign then it's a bicycle :-) Seriously, it's quite possible to sort this out. And there are many iPhones around, so if you have some iPhones at 30 mph and some at 4 mph on the same road, then you know who are drivers and who are pedestrians. If iPhones move at an average of 3 mph through your favourite park, then turn-by-turn software won't direct car traffic there, whether it is pedestrians or enormous traffic jam.

Right. It would be foolish of Apple to have an extra Engineer on staff just to handle CDMA and doubly foolish to make a second radio board for it, and triply foolish to have a second stock SKU just for the 90 Million or so CDMA users in the US and the few hundred million (335M+ total) others in Korea, Taiwan, Brazil, India, China, Australia and Iraq.
It would make no sense. Lunacy, I tell you - Lunacy.
What would be even crazier would be to use a TI software-defined-radio to handle CDMA, GSM, Wi-Max, and 802.11. Nuts!
It'd be even dumber to do a Wifi-only Skype device like the Sony Mylo.

It's funny, but wherever I go, I always see people with iPhones. My train, on plane trips between Chicago and NYC, during meetings, etc. I am amazed the number is only 5% - but I guess it's the circles that I am in.
As said in the article, Apple has a noticeably higher market share in developed economies, and I would assume this to be particularly true for the U.S.. Moreover, a smartphone (particularly one that doubles as an iPod) will be much more often in the hands of someone compared to being in their pocket. Feature phones likely come only out of the pockets when actually speaking or texting on them.
In Stockholm and Frankfurt, I hardly see any iPhones. Also, I hardly see any iPads. I do however see a ton of MacBookPros but almost no MacBookAirs.
I find both places very style-centric (Stockholm especially), but also somewhat frugal. I don't think that iPhone will reach as large of a market share in Europe due to the high upfront cost of an iPhone (659€/799€ for 16GB/32GB).
I am seeing a lot of iPhones in Switzerland (greater Zurich area) but then Switzerland has high disposable income and always had one of the highest rates of Mac ownership worldwide.

Angry much? Sending a submission takes all of 10 seconds. If you choose not to, then you are no worse off than you are now.
I see you are on Long Island, where your attitude runs rampant (lived there for years so I can speak to it). I'm sure others will gladly submit on your behalf. By the way, my 3G service on Long Island was excellent, so I'm assuming you are in Nassau county?
Clearly you are missing the point, why should I have to do AT&T's work for them?
Generalization much?

Speaking of tablets, Amazon.com now has the Kindle for $25 less if you opt for the sponsored screen savers. Basically ads appear in the screen saver and you get the kindle for $25 less. It is noted on Amazon's homepage.
Who really thought another iPad would come out this year...i mean honestly?
LOL
I know. I doubt anyone believed this. It was the most ridiculous "rumor" out there.
How about a mini iPad in the 7 inch range coming this year?
That's a gimmick for the so called competition.

How are things food wise?
Within the Moscone Center, pretty terrible -- expensive and not good. A much better bet is to walk over to the Metreon Center, which is very close by. The food court has some good selections. I'm a big fan of the Long Life Noodle Company.

Hrmph reports on a recently released patent filed by Apple for a configurable input system (http://hrmpf.com/wordpress/99/apple-proposes-blank-ipodphonemacbook-just-add-buttons) that is shown to be applicable for an iPod and a laptop computer.
Apple seems to propose that you take a blank iPod and add a wheel for a standard iPod, add a keypad to make it a phone - add a joystick to make it a game machine. The overlays are identified by the computer/device and it reacts accordingly. Imagine adding a nice volume control to your iPod. The blank iPod can be made into a PDA, cell phone, game machine, handtop or remote control.
Add a joystick to your MacBook? How about a mixing desk?
Presumably, this would allow third-party vendors to design their on interfaces for the iPod/MacBook- this would make an extremely versatile machine. Examples mention by Apple include surfaces to make your MacBook a music/video editing machine or even overlays allowing you to add two buttons to your MacBooks touchpad.
The concept is based around adding physical/tactile controls over a touch-sensitive pad. By having such a modular system, an iPod or laptop could become even more multi-functional. The following image depicts several different modules that could be used on a laptop.

As a grain of salt, readers are reminded that Apple routinely patents technology that never makes it into shipping products.

I have to disagree. I really don't think it is that sophisticated of an issue. It comes down to software and deployment. The people on this board are quite intelligent, so I would expect they can concede Windows rules the software market.
I am the network admin, on the side, for a small business. Additionally, I am the purchasing manager, and as the purchasing manager it is not prudent for me to purchase any Macs. Windows 2003 SBS (small business server) is an excellent backend server. Remote access, VPN, and exchange server simply are amazing tools for collaboration and connectivity to peers. On SBS 2003 they are all included.
The computers I purchase must have Windows XP Pro, which is a must for our domain management. I have actually added a Mac to our active directory, and had Entourage running off Exchange, and I can tell you it was a big pain in the ass. HP Business Computers are excellent at providing a clean install of Windows XP Pro. I simply don't see a decent argument for an employee to have a Mac when all the programs they are required to run are on Windows. Additionally, I will not waste time or money purchasing additional licenses of XP Pro for Macs, and then have to install it. Since we are a construction company we are heavy into Timberline (SQL based estimating and accounting...amazing application), Access, Visio, Project, and AutoCAD. I have yet to find viable alternatives on the Mac that has full compatibility.
In your argument you mentioned iTunes. Well I have that for Windows. I find Picasa to be a better application than iLife, and I dont use Garage Band or iMovie.
Of course for home use there are plenty of software choices that are arguably the best in their class, such as iLife. However, those specific applications are not significant value added tools for our business.
The truth is I own a Mac at home for simple entertainment. Its fun to use a different platform from time to time. However, Ubuntu and OS X are still entertainment OSs for me and not much more.
However, when money is on the line I would never choose a Mac in our business. They simply dont have a competitive advantage and are not able to offer any software that would make our business more efficient. Now I could argue that software developers can be blamed for not offering Mac versions of critical applications, but I really dont care.
While I really dont like what you say Im afraid I completely agree, apple has done a great job of challenging windows in the home market, and it seems also the edu market, but the corporate market, apple has a long long way to go!

I just hope that there'll be some kind of iPod hard drive integrated... I was toying with the idea of going for the new nokia with 4GB harddrive coz I'm fed up with carrying my mobile phone and iPod round... who knows- I'll probably get this phone when it comes out anyway.:)

I sometimes walk out in the snow without a jacket or a sweater, just a T-shirt. I would feel the cold pressing against my skin, not as cold, but as an unusual sensation. It's funny. When I changed my pain threshold in my mind, I was able to cope with the cold weather pretty easily.
I'm sure this could be applied to child birth.
