Comcast sells bandwidth to its customers and now wants to get paid on the backend too! If they can't truly provide the bandwidth they claim then they shouldn't be selling it. Asking content suppliers for payment is just plain old fashioned extortion.

I tend to agree with the previous post, it's primarily a Mac forum so it would be very tough to find anyone who could help with regards to Publisher OR recommend it as a pseudo-"professional" application.
Generally speaking, I've had a few clients send me stuff from Publisher... The "colour" issues in the app are painful at best, if you're after a specific HEX then you'll probably run into a few issues...
If it were me I'd recommend the following, it will give you a far better result that going down the Publisher route (it truly is a heinous application for the masses).
If skill level is the issue I would recommend using Pages, it does have some very nice templates while the finished results can be rather good for the newbie users.
Otherwise I would use Inkscape (http://inkscape.org/), it would be the closest thing to Illustrator without the attached costs, with that said there's a steep learning curve.

It's $1269 CAD for the iMac 27 - Core i3 3.2 Ghz refurb. Is this a good deal?
Also, is resolution independence from OSX Lion going to improve the 27" viewing experience?
Thanks for the help!
Sorry, dude. I can't comment on value for money in Canadian dollars...!
And I've never heard of 'resolution independence', I'm afraid. I haven't really had my ear to the ground, over Lion.

BTW, what do you have? What do you use? What's your workflow look like? Do you do any windows development?
Most of my work right now revolves around Windows development or Database development (which can be done in either platform, I usually just use Mac OS for that):
MBP: "Main" computer, mobile work machine, handles all my daily tasks including email, writing, etc.
MP: Number cruncher, when I'm at home I use this for Windows development (VMWare Fusion, Win7 64-bit, Office 2010). If I'm building a large project in Windows I'll boot natively using Bootcamp and let it crunch away for a few hours.
I also use my MP for my three hobbies: photography (a few terabytes of high-res photos), music (a few terabytes of samples/libraries), and gaming (WoW, Steam, SC2, or boot into Win7 for Call of Duty MW2).
I use Back-to-my-Mac using Clear 4G to get to my MP at home, and it'll even load a 150gb project file no problems (takes a few minutes to load, but it's workable).

AMD's equivalent to Nvidia's gtx 560 is the Radeon 6950
You beat me to it xD
Yes, the Radeon 6950 is the equivalent. It is more power consuming and louder, but handles high-res monitors better. Also bigger.
The interwebz indeed will! Google (http://www.google.com) is your best friend.

This sounds reassuring. Thanks.
I'm sort of obsessed with making sure I don't loss my music collection. I used to back it up with CCC but for ease want to use Time Machine. Guess I have nothing to worry about.

favorite one for me is a local computer shop. they build/fix/sell only pc related stuff, but the shop computer and the register computer are both imac g3/500 systems. both installed and working since new ('01, '02 ?) without any failure. it's fun to see this stuff still in use!

Is anyone on AIM now that can show me how to make a my SQL database on my server?
My AIM is "Glenn A Wolsey"
Without quotes
wowww, thats a very broad request. have you installed the software yet? what os? the easiest way to administrate a mysql database -- especially for a beginner -- is to download a mysql admin gui...i cant name one for os x, but you could try phpMyAdmin if you're running a web server on the same machine. otherwise check out version tracker.

I remember people posting information from a website about their Mac based on the serial number. I've tried searching, but I can't find the thread. It included when the Mac was made, where it was made, and perhaps warranty information?
Can anyone provide a link. I'm just curious where my PB and PM were made and when. Thanks! :D

I looked at the contentsOfDirectoryAtPath:error: method and Apple states "An array of NSString objects identifying the directories and files (including symbolic links) contained in path." So my question is, will the IKImageBrowserView use this string and display the image? If not what is the solution to this problem?
Thanks
An NSString containing a path is not an NSImage.
NSImage has an initializer initWithContentsOfFile:(NSString *), so that is a step in the right direction for getting an NSImage for a path. You'll need to loop over your NSArray of NSStrings and get an NSImage for each, and then add that NSImage to your NSMutableArray. There are some other issues you'll need to deal with in terms of whether or not an NSString is a path to an image or a subdirectory, traversing subdirectories, etc.

I am sorry if this is already posted, but I have a quick question. A friend of mines has the 2010 13" 2.4GHz model with all the standard specs no upgrade. Its in like new condition with the box and the accessories he bought his in Nov. from Microcenter when they was on sale for $999.99. He looking to sell it to get the i5. I trying to talk him out of it because he only uses it for basic stuff and its not worth the upgrade. But he wants to know a good price to sell it for he offered it to me for $700 and told me if anyone else wants it $900. But he hasn't gotten any serious buyers. What do you guys think a good sales price should be. He wants to pay as little out his pocket for the new 1. I was thinking of buying it myself but I dont think I would make much money off it. Because I just bought mines in Jan and i am perfectly fine with mines. So just need some advice for a good reasonable price point thanks.
